Current Scope and market assessment
- There is an appetite for local consumers in Zambia, though those paying still opt to do that indirectly (e.g. pay subscription to Multichoice). So one has to be moderately optimistic
- Content acquisition is very low, and that is why you only here more of Zambezi Magic. Locally, ZNBC is seldom managing. New television platforms are almost oblivious.
- TOPStar, as a signal carrier, is trying to explore the local market, though their general purpose vehicle STARTIMES hasn’t as yet wholly affirmed strategic engagement in Zambia. Indirectly, they can do it through ZNBC platform (ZNBC TV 3, hopefully?)
- IBA has or is licensing other TV outlets and that increases on consumers.
